Retention of members is critical to Rotary’s ability to meet the growing demand for humanitarian needs and volunteer services throughout the world.

PROMOTE YOUR ROTARY CLUB

The story of Rotary is a great one to tell. By sharing your club’s accomplishments you can contribute to a positive image of Rotary in your community. Effective Public Relations is important to each Rotary club. This can also lead to an increase in membership for Rotary. Each Rotarian should help their clubs become more identifiable in their communities by personally informing others about what Rotary is and does. Below are some easy steps to help increase Rotary’s visibility throughout your community.

* Invite news media personnel to speak at club meetings on the role of the media.

* Several club members can create print advertising with their names, classification and name of their Rotary club. The cost of the ad can be divided amongst the members.

* Wear your Rotary pin everyday. (PDG Rick and the Rotary pin police are still around!!)

* Send a press release to your local cable television outlet.

* Offer to be interviewed about Rotary on your local cable television outlet.

* Offer to be interviewed about Rotary on a local radio station.

* Recognize a student at one of your club’s meetings. Send a press release and picture to your local newspaper.

* Send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper thanking the members of your community for supporting your club sponsored event.

* Use your club members business signs to promote a club event.

* Does the sign at your meeting place promote your weekly Rotary meeting?
