Beginning with August 9th Activities:

ROTARY 6450 DISTRICT ASSEMBLY 2008


President Elects, New Rotarians, and PDG`s congregated at the District Assembly April 19th for excellent speakers, breakout sessions, Rotary vendors and information booths.  Over 300 Rotarians were in attendance. Amidst all the activities the Homewood Rotarians found time to have this group photo taken.

who led the activities during this Assembly,
and is a member of the Homewood Rotary.

This Assembly proved to be excellent use of Rotarian`s time.

DGE Michael reports that the last Pre-Pets met March 24th... Results from these meetings has started the ball rolling for the 2008-2009 Club administrations to begin their year.

Induction of New Member Steve Wedig by Past President Tom Cunnington...Steve is general manager for
Kankakee County Title Company.

 

The Kankakee Rotary Club hosted the Kankakee HS Business Academy for lunch at the Kankakee Country Club.   Student LaVar Kellogg, Rotarian Darby Sweeney and Student Luis Camacho Discussing the issue of how Iraq War affects local businesses and the community.

 

Rotarian Matt Olszewski & Kiwanian Phil Angelo  were caught in a serious game of checkers.

Club competition is always fun.

Something you should know about:

The Rotary Club of Franklin Park invited the Governor and theTop Ten Percent in rank of the students from Lyden High School to an Awards Ceremony and Banquet.  This is annual event held away from the school and as an evening event.

   
 

The host for the DG and Sandy is President Anjam Aziz and his Lovely Lady.  This occassiona gave Governor Art and First Lady Sandy a chance to see a Rotary youth program in action that recognized students for their academic accomplishments only.

About eighty three students plus parents and Teachers were in attendance.


The Rotary Club of Chicago Financial District held it`s Ties and Scarf`s Fundraiser November 10.  Needless to say, we had a fantastic turnout, nearly at full capacity, 115 attendees.  32 Tie`s and Scarf`s from very important people all sold, many for over $500.00 each.  This was a very successful event which raised over $18,000 for the Chicago Financial District Foundation.  Thank you all for your support. 

 
Enjoying the event were Art Davis, DG 6450; Mike Ericksen, DG 6440; David Templin, President Chicago One; Andrew Horberg, President Chicago Financial District; Carlyn and PDG Brian Andersen; Karen Ness Horberg, and Gus Samios, ADG Coordinator.

The Rotary Club of Lockport and President Steve Sullivan welcomed
DG Art for the Govenor`s Official Visit November 29th. 

 

 

 



While there DG Art was pleased to become a member of the official Green Jacket Club.  Shown with Governor Art are Ray Darin on the left and Steve Luzbetak on the right.










The Rotary Club of Berwyn
and President Chuck Ezell were pleased to entertain Governor Art November 15th, 2007 for the Official Visit.

On October 23rd President Michele Thornton and The Rotary Club of Oak Forest  welcomes DG Art for his Official Visit.  AG George Harris was also in attendance.

PDG Dinner

The District Governor`s Dinner was held September 27th At Clara`s in Woodridge.  It was a wine tasting affair with a wine to match every course.  The evening began with socializing which quickly moved into a lovely meal.  Afterwards DG Art gave us a quick review of his progress so far through the District activities, which looks very successful indeed.

Rotary Club of Homewood
, famous for it`s hospitality, honored Governor Art with a Cake on Septemberr 26th, during the official visit.  Shown with DG Art is President Jack Edwards and on the Governor`s left is District Governor Elect Michael Slevnik, also a member of Homewood Rotary.


             Governor Art at the Rotary Club of Kankakee

President Jerry Weber was happy to host the Governor`s visit September 13th.  This gave Jerry a chance to share the Youth of the Kankakee
Club with Governor Art.  
Interact and and job shadowing program took its toll on attendance. DG Art was happy to receive a T shirt from Julia and another from the Rotaract Club for the Sleeping In A Box fundraiser.

Art also met
Guillaume Leroux, Inbound Youth Exchange Student from France.  Kankakee was proud to show the progress of their youth projects to the governor.
        
               


How often does a Governor induct ten (10) new Paul Harris Fellows all in the same room at the same time?

That is what Governor Art did September 13th at the Rotary Club of Chicago Northwest.  President Lorena Alvarez asked Governor Art to preside over the ceremony and then was ready to accept her Paul Harris metal as well.


Congratulations to all!


 

Governor Art is being welcomed by President John Hagenow of the Matteson Rotary Cub.  This Club has the distinct honor of having as a member Shirley Green, the second woman to be installed as a member in District 6450.  Governor Art had the pleasure of present a 20 year anniversary plaque to Shirley at his Official Visit to Matteson September the eleventh.
